Behavioural therapy for children, online

You've tried asking nicely, shouting, taking the phone away and bribing with sweets. Some days it works. Most days it doesn't.

Behavioural therapy looks at what happens just before and just after a behaviour. Then it helps you change small things, consistently, so better behaviour becomes easier for your child.

How behavioural therapy at Ila helps

  1. 1Understand. We look at when and why the behaviour happens.
  2. 2Plan. Together we make a simple plan: clear routines, calm and consistent responses, and praise that works.
  3. 3Practise. You try the plan at home, and we fine-tune it each week.

If we think your child might benefit from an assessment, for example for attention or developmental differences, we'll explain why and guide you on next steps. Behavioural therapy can also help teenagers and adults change habits that hold them back.

What sessions look like

Parents are at the centre. Most sessions include a parent, with time for the child where it helps. Families usually meet weekly for 6–10 sessions, with a review every few weeks.

Is behavioural therapy about punishment?

No. It focuses on encouraging the behaviour you want to see, with calm, predictable limits.

Can it help if I think my child has ADHD?

Behavioural strategies are widely used to support children with attention difficulties. We'll talk through assessment options with you and help with day-to-day life at home.

How soon will things change?

Every child is different. Small changes often show within a few weeks when the plan is used consistently.
